The iLough-Lab is an outcome of a research project conducted under the supervision of Dr Zoltan K Nagy at the Chemical Engineering Department at Loughborough University, UK. Zoltan has worked on the development of remote labs for industrial and educational purposes since their infancy during the mid 1990s. In 2005 Zoltan proposed a project to the Engineering Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (engCETL) with the aim to develop a novel scheme of laboratory education, which combines the use of remote, virtual and hands-on labs (TriLab) for the first time. The proposal was approved and launched in January 2007. Additional support from the Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre has also greatly contributed to the development and dissemination of this project.
