The three tanks rig was built in the Chemical Engineering Department under Dr Nagy's supervision. The rig is fully modular and can present a several interesting control engineering and process dynamics demonstrations. The rig fully supports the TriLab concept (possibility of combined hands-on, remote and virtual experiments withing the same framework and software environment). The rig is supplied with a virtual and remote operation capabilities through an accompanying software. The software is designed with LabVIEW, but it is packaged with an installer and executable file for easy utilization by other institutions. The rig was first shown during the University open day in May 2009 and has attracted the intention of many visitors, including motivated kids.
